Connect iCloud Mail
Apple requires an app-specific password for any third-party SMTP client.
Using Gmail or Microsoft 365 instead? Connect via OAuth at Settings → Integrations — one click, no app password. This guide covers iCloud Mail, which doesn't support OAuth in SAIDR yet.
You must have two-factor authentication enabled on your Apple ID. Without it, Apple won't show the app-specific-password page.
1 · Generate the app-specific password
- 1Sign in at account.apple.com.
- 2Under Sign-In and Security, click App-Specific Passwords.
- 3Click Generate an app-specific password (or the + button).
- 4Label it
SAIDRand click Create. Copy the 19-character password (it looks likeabcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop).
2 · Paste into SAIDR
- SMTP host:
smtp.mail.me.com - SMTP port:
587 - Use TLS: on
- Username: the local part of your iCloud address (everything before
@). Apple is picky here — don't include the domain. - Password: the 19-character app-specific password
- From email: your full iCloud email address
iCloud caps outbound at ~200 messages / day per account and aggressively rate-limits if it suspects bulk sending. For higher volume, use a dedicated business domain on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
